Sometimes, we may establish our identity and standards to the expectations of society and based on what the world encourages. We may place our identity in our careers, wealth, success, status, relationships, appearance, reputation, or the number of followers on social media. Many of these "idols" are external and temporary, so when they fade away, we are left feeling inadequate, confused, insecure, and disappointed.
Even as Christians, we can place our identity on status, spiritual gifts, followers, and what we do to feel relevant or "useful" in the body of Christ. The Church of Corinth compared Apostle Paul to false teachers who appeared charismatic and superior. They looked down on Paul because of his appearance and poor speaking skills. However, Paul chose to stand firm in his identity in Jesus when he said, "That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong." (2 Corinthians 12:10 NIV).
The wonderful thing about Jesus is that the moment we choose to have faith and believe in Him, he gives us a new identity that will never be taken away. There is freedom and satisfaction when we place our identity in Jesus!

This is a list of promises of truth to override the lies of the enemy. Being intentional to read scripture even when life brings challenges or plain simple “I don’t feel…” God is faithful and will never fail us no matter what 😃
